Friday, October 9th, 2009

R&B crooner Ginuwine dropped by on The Mo’Nique Show this week where he performed ‘Trouble’ and ‘Last Chance’ from his latest new album ‘A Man’s Thoughts’. Peep his performance below:

Vocally, this was a little rough around the edges but still a decent performance. Mo is so damn extra. I get the bubbly and humour she tries to incorporate but let’s not over do it.

GINUWINE: ‘TROUBLE’ [NEW VIDEO PREMIERE]…

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Ginuwine premieres his brand new music video ‘Trouble’, the second single to be lifted from his latest album ‘A Man’s Thoughts’. The video also features Cocktail from VH1’s ‘For The Love Of Ray J’. I posted stills from this video a month ago where he was seen shooting it at the Falcon night club on Sunset in Hollywood. Now you can check out the clip below:

Gin mixes business with pleasure in the video, and takes great pleasure in grinding and wining his chick at the club. He doesn’t look a day over how he looked back in 96. Sexay!

GINUWINE & MISSY PERFORM ‘GET INVOLVED’ ON LETTERMAN…

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Ginuwine and Missy Elliott visited The Late Show with David Letterman last night (July 23rd). They both performed Ginuwine’s latest new single ‘Get Involved’. During the end, they tributed the late Michael Jackson. Ginuwine rocked out to some Michael Jackson moves whilst Missy donned a Michael Jackson shirt. Check out the performance below:

GINUWINE & MISSY PERFORM GET INVOLVED ON LETTERMAN...

I can’t really say I’m a fan of the song. I’ve expressed that enough in previous posts. Compared to the hotness that Ginuwine and Timbaland use to cook up back in the day, this song is a downgrade. Having said that, this was a pretty cool performance especially the MJ tribute. I always considered Gin to be an underrated dancer who had the closest stage mannerisms to that of the King of Pop. In my opinion, he is a better dancer than Usher and Justin Timberlake. He never gets his props though because he is not as mainstream as they are.

Ginuwine: A Mans Thoughts [ALBUM REVIEW]...

Introduction: My name is Riah and I am the new music writer Toya has mention a couple of times. I hope you enjoy both the review and the album. And if you have any other Reviews you would like for me to do feel free to let me know via Twitter: TheSplender (feel free to follow me) or Email: bomb_riah@yahoo.com

Ginuwine: A Mans Thoughts [ALBUM REVIEW]... After a four year hiatus (due to his split with his label and joining an independent one) R&B singer, Ginuwine, returns to the music scene with his sixth studio album, ‘A Man’s Thoughts’. With a lack-luster of promotion, A Man’s Thoughts surprisingly debuted atop the R&B/Hip Hop charts and #9 on the Billboard 200 chart. The feat shows his fan following and his true talent in R&B— better yet good music in general. And although the album dropped relatively fast after that it doesn’t change the fact that Ginuwine could still give today’s R&B males a run for their money (if better promoted). After listening to the album for over two hours here’s what I think track by track:

Interlude: Ginuwine begins the album by thanking his fans for their never ending support over his entire career. Then out of nowhere a dramatic spoken word poem is recited; welcoming the listener into “a man’s thoughts”.

GINUWINE ON THE SET OF HIS VIDEO ‘TROUBLE’…

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Earlier today, I posted a promo video for Ginuwine’s song ‘Touch Me’, taken from his latest new album ‘A Man’s Thoughts’. However, his REAL follow-up will be for his second single ‘Trouble’, which is produced by Inferno. Ginuwine was spotted over the weekend shooting the video at the Falcon night club on Sunset in Hollywood. Check out some pics below:

He looks good. The award winning singer’s new album grabbed the no 1 spot on the Billboard R&B Chart last week. He also secured a top 10 position on the Hot 100.

GINUWINE: ‘TOUCH ME’ [NEW MUSIC VIDEO]…

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

UPDATE: So I’m told it’s only a promo video and NOT official.

Here is Ginuwine’s second video ‘Touch Me’, taken from his latest new album ‘A Man’s Thoughts’. It looked like it was taken on somebody’s blackberry or something. And yet you have the introductory credits including director Rik Cordero’s name splashed on the screen like we’re expecting to see some epic cinematography.

GINUWINE: TOUCH ME [NEW MUSIC VIDEO]...

I think this video wins the award for cheapest video of 2009. It almost has the same boring effect as watching paint dry. No scenery or storyline or anything. It was practiclly all done in one take. No different camera angles or shots - just zoom in, pan, zoom out, pan and so on. What makes him think standing there with a woman caressing him from behind for three straight minutes makes for an interesting video? I know D’Angelo did something similar (by himself) but the way it was shot and the belting his lungs out whilst standing there stark naked made for a compelling music video. I don’t think he’s sexy at all but even that video had me thinking, whoa. Anyway, the video may have matched the song but this was just straight naff. Check it out after the jump, or maybe not.

GINUWINE’S COMEBACK ALBUM IS TOP 10 SUCCESS & LANDS NO 1 ON R&B CHARTS…

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

After a four year absense, Ginuwine’s comeback album ‘A Man’s Thoughts’ has topped the R&B charts and is also #9 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album is preceded by the Bryan Michael-Cox produced single ‘Last Chance’, and is the first release under new label/production company Notifi/Asylum/Warner Bros.

GINUWINES COMEBACK ALBUM IS TOP 10 SUCCESS & LANDS NO 1 ON R&B CHARTS...

Notifi Records President Ira Dewitt is ecstatic at the success and issued the following statement yesterday (July 1st): “It makes me incredibly proud that my small independent label has earned a #1 R&B album on our very first try”. I am really happy for Ginuwine. I have not listened to the album yet so I don’t really know if it’s any good, although I really enjoy the Brandy duet ‘Bridge of Love’. This chick has been on so many leaked collaborations lately but I can’t wait for her new joint which is rumoured to be out later this year. G’s album stays sitting on my laptop just like the Maxwell and Melanie Fiona albums. I have a lot of listening to do but I will get round to listening this week. I have like 3-4 album reviews to write. It’s insane.

♫ PREVIEW GINUWINES NEW ALBUM A MANS THOUGHTS...

Gin’s sixth studio album features production from The Underdogs, B Cox, Timberland, The Runners, Johnta Austin, Oak and Polow Da Don and guests appearances from Brandy, Missy Elliott, Bun B and Timberland. I have not listened to these yet. I think I will just wait for the full leak.

♫ GINUWINE FEAT BRANDY: ‘BRIDGE OF LOVE’ [NEW MUSIC]…

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

A new track from Ginuwine’s forthcoming album ‘A Man’s Thoughts’ has leaked. The song is titled ‘Bridge of Love’ and it features R&B songstress Brandy. Gin’s new album will be out on June 23rd via Notifi Records. Check out the track below:

♫ GINUWINE FEAT BRANDY: BRIDGE OF LOVE [NEW MUSIC]...

“You need to stand up. Take responsibility. Come on and walk with me across this bridge of love” …

This is a really nice R&B midtempo and it’s R&B straight up which is commendable. They both did their thing on the track. Plus, it’s not mixed with pop or electronica or dance to give it more of a mainstream edge. I think this is something oldskool G fans can actually appreciate. I’m loving the guitar chords and on top of that, Brandy’s layered vocals sound great.

Ginuwine says that he recorded 3 songs with Timbaland but only kept one song because he was “only able to afford one song from Tim”. That is kind of foul. They haven’t worked together since Aaliyah’s passing and I always considered them to be old friends despite them drifting apart. It’s not like Tim needed the money since he went commercial with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. But whatever. I’ll definetely check out the album when it drops.

♫ GINUWINE FEAT MISSY & TIMBALAND: ‘GET INVOLVED’ [OFFICIAL 2ND SINGLE]…

Friday, May 29th, 2009

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a snippet to Ginuwine’s second single ‘Get Involved’, and now the track has leaked in full. The song is the follow-up to his lead single Last Chance, taken from his forthcoming sixth studio album A Mans Thoughts. The album is set to drop on June 23rd. Check out the Missy Elliot and Timbaland-assisted track below:

♫ GINUWINE FEAT MISSY & TIMBALAND: GET INVOLVED [OFFICIAL 2ND SINGLE]...

Ginuwine performed his latest single ‘Last Chance’ on 106 & Park this week but sadly, the song has not caught on chartwise and he’s moving onto this futuristic dance number. It does not touch any of that classic Timbaland and Ginuwine sound from back in the 90’s but it’s still a radio friendly song in a “Justin Timberlake/Sexyback” sort of way. Maybe he’ll see some success with this.

GINUWINE’S OFFICIAL ALBUM COVER FOR ‘A MAN’S THOUGHTS’…

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

R&B veteran Ginuwine will release his forthcoming sixth studio album ‘A Man’s Thoughts’ on June 2nd. Here is the official art work for the album cover:

GINUWINES OFFICIAL ALBUM COVER FOR A MANS THOUGHTS...

I have not enjoyed a Ginuwine album since the mid to late 90’s. But I’m really loving his new single ‘Last Chance’. Finally, oldskool R&B is being brought back to the forefront. And his duet with fellow R&B veteran Brandy sounds breathtaking. With Bryan Michael-Cox and Underdogs on production duties and Keyshia Cole also featured as a guest spot, it sounds like a winner already.

GINUWINE PERFORMS ‘LAST CHANCE’ LIVE…

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Here’s a brand new performance of R&B veteran Ginuwine performing his latest new single ‘Last Chance’. The track is taken from his forthcoming album ‘A Man’s Thoughts’ which is due out this summer. Check it out below:

GINUWINE PERFORMS LAST CHANCE LIVE...

Although I didn’t care much for the backing singers, that was a pretty good live performance. Is G the one to bring back real R&B music?
