♫ Brandy: ‘I Don’t Really Care’ [New Music]…

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

The millionth Brandy song to leak this week goes by the of ‘I Don’t Really Care’. It is believed that the song either comes from her ‘Human’ recording sessions or is another leaked track from her new sessions this year with Stargate. The Swedish duo are also confirmed to be working with Brandy on her sixth studio project as well. I Don’t Really Care was previously recorded by Ne-yo which hit the Net a couple of months now. Now Brandy’s version has surfaced. Listen to the track below:

♫ Brandy: I Don’t Really Care [New Music]...

It’s a cute R&B-pop joint, and it has a nice piano melody. I love the layering of her vocals, and she sounds great. Her vocals are so unmatched. However, if the song was recorded during her ‘Human’ sessions, I can see why it did not make the cut. I hope we get a new album from her next year. Rating: 3/5

♫ Brandy feat Ne-yo: ‘Goodnight, Good Morning’ [New Music]…

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

A new song to surface this week is ‘Goodnight, Good Morning’, performed by R&B songstress Brandy with Ne-yo as the guest feature. The track is also produced by Stargate and is a confirmed track for X Factor winner Alexandra Burke’s new album ‘Overcome’. Listen to the track below:

♫ Brandy feat Ne-yo: Goodnight, Good Morning [New Music]...
♫ Brandy feat Ne-yo: Goodnight, Good Morning [New Music]...

The song has a very drum and bass feel to it and consists of some electronic snares in the chorus. It’s good. Probably one of the best leaks to come from Alexandra’s new album so far. I’ve been disappointed with what I’ve heard previously. I’m not anticipating her new album (and that is based on the lead single and past leaks) but I’ll definetely give it a listen. The unthinkable might just happen to a point where she may shock me. Rating: 3/5

♫ BRANDY: ‘SUPREME’ & ‘BET YOU DIDN’T KNOW’ [NEW MUSIC]…

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Brandy fans are in for a bit of treat today because two new songs have leaked. I’m not sure where they come from exactly. All I know is that Brandy is currently in the studio working on her sixth studio album. I don’t recall Brandy working with Stargate on previous albums. Trust, I would know. I live for Brandy’s music. The production team are in deed CONFIRMED for Brandy’s new project. And one of the new tracks is produced by Stargate. The song is called ‘Supreme’. The other track that leaked is titled ‘Bet You Didnt Know’. Listen to them below:

♫ BRANDY: SUPREME & BET YOU DIDNT KNOW [NEW MUSIC]...
♫ BRANDY: SUPREME & BET YOU DIDNT KNOW [NEW MUSIC]...

Supreme: Brandy’s distint vocals are very strong and assertive. I like how her layered vocal delivery stands out over the laidback production during the bridge (as well as the chorus). The track entails a mid-tempo concoction of nice piano chords, sparse handclaps and plush synths. Plus, I’m loving those lyrics. Very ipod-worthy! Rating: 4/5

Bet You Didnt Know: The heavy drum beat and keyboard melody do their duty and let the stunning arrangement shine. Another nice track from Brandy but I’m loving Supreme just a tad bit better. I just listened to Megan Rochelle’s version and both ladies did good with the song. I can’t decide which one I like better. Overall, I am feeling these new songs and if they’re a preview to what we should expect from her forthcoming project, I’m excited. Rating: 3.5/5

SPOTTED: BRANDY & KELLY ROWLAND GO SHOPPING & DINNER IN LA…

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Reformed best friends Brandy & Kelly Rowland had a girly night out in Beverly Hills (August 20th). They indulged in some shopping retail and then had dinner. After a falling out two years ago, the pair seemed to be really happy spending some quality time together:

SPOTTED: BRANDY & KELLY ROWLAND GO SHOPPING & DINNER IN LA...

Both girls have a lot in common since they both split from their record labels earlier this year. However, the two have been working on forthcoming projects so hopefully, we get some news on those real soon. I have to say, both of them looked fantastic.

BRANDY REPORTEDLY DROPPED FROM EPIC RECORDS BUT SINGER DENIES IT…

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

UPDATE 2: A rep for Brandy has denied the rumours that she’s split with Epic but confirmed that Brandy is in deed trying to leave: “They have not dropped her. We are trying to get a release from them. We’re in waiting,” her rep revealed, before adding: “And Brandy and Roc Nation parted amicably.”

UPDATE: Brandy is denying via her twitter that she has been dropped. She writes: “#notagoodlook when so called journalist spread false rumors without the facts:) Don’t believe everything you read or see!”

BRANDY REPORTEDLY DROPPED FROM EPIC RECORDS BUT SINGER DENIES IT...According to Jawn Murray over at AOL’s Black Voices, R&B veteran Brandy has officially been dropped by her record label Epic Records. Check out the scoop below:

R&B singer Brandy Norwood is in search of a new record deal. BV Buzz has learned exclusively that the 30-year-old singer was just dropped by her label Epic Records because of the lackluster sales of her comeback CD, ‘Human’. An A&R representative at Epic Records has been making calls to see if other labels would be interested in signing her. The singer’s relationship with Roc Nation supposedly dissolved because of “creative differences”. Read More.

It’s sad news but not really all that surprising since sales were poor. Whilst I thought Human was a solid effort it was no Never Say Never, Full Moon or Afrodisiac. On top of that, the record was not correctly promoted and only two singles were released from it. Brandy has been working on her 6th studio album with The Dream, Stargate, Ne-yo, Danja, Pharrell Williams and Timbaland. Her fans were expecting a Fall release for the project but until Brandy finds herself a new home, it could be a while yet before we hear new music from Brandy. *weep*

BRANDY, LEONA LEWIS & JLS SHARE THEIR THOUGHTS ON MICHAEL JACKSON // INFO ON MEMORIAL SERVICE…

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Hollywood TV caught up with Brandy as she left Katsuya in Hollywood earlier this week. The R&B veteran says that the late Michael Jackson was “the biggest influence on my life”. Brandy said if there was going to be a public memorial or a private one that she’s invited to, she’ll be there:

BRANDY, LEONA LEWIS & JLS SHARE THEIR THOUGHTS ON MICHAEL JACKSON // INFO ON MEMORIAL SERVICE...

As it turns out, a memorial service for the singer will be held at the Staples Center on Tuesday (July 7th). For more info, click here. The two-hour funeral is expected to draw in ONE MILLION fans in attendance with 750 MILLION expected to watch on television. There is even talk that some of the biggest names in music will perform at the event. An official statement is expected to be released from The Jackson family shortly.

♫ MARIO FEAT BRANDY: ‘BOOM IN IT’ [NEW MUSIC]…

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

‘Boom In It’ is the latest simultaneous leak from Mario’s forthcoming new album ‘And Then There Was Me’. The track which had The Dream featured on a previous version now has R&B veteran Brandy gracing her vocals over the track instead. Listen to it below:

♫ MARIO FEAT BRANDY: BOOM IN IT [NEW MUSIC]...

History is repeating itself all over again. With his last album ‘Go’, there were so many leaks which resulted in his album getting pushed back one year later than the intended release date. It was such a fantastic album but sadly, it underperformed really badly. I hope that’s not the case with this latest new album. As for the song, Brandy’s part on the smooth R&B midtempo is really restricted. As the song entails sexy lyrics where he is calling out to his girl, the song could have been a sexy his and her phone convo. Mario starts off the song with the phone references so such concept makes a lot of sense. It’s a nice song but not really a full on collaboration, just a feature. Although Mario says his album will explore sounds outside of the R&B circle, I am glad that he is still pursuing the contemporary R&B songs that he is well known for.

♫ BRANDY FEAT NE-YO: ‘TOO LITTLE TOO LATE’ [NEW MUSIC]…

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Listen to a new Brandy track titled ‘Too Little, Too Late’ from the recording sessions of her forthcoming 6th studio album, which is scheduled to drop later this year. Stargate produced it and it’s a full on collaboration with singer/songwriter Ne-yo. Listen to it below:

♫ BRANDY FEAT NE-YO: TOO LITTLE TOO LATE [NEW MUSIC]...
♫ BRANDY FEAT NE-YO: TOO LITTLE TOO LATE [NEW MUSIC]...

I think their vocals mesh well over the laidback production, which is safe but still a nice mellowed out track. I like the lyrics. I’m thinking Ne-yo penned it because, if not all, most of the songs he is featured on, he wrote them. Plus, anything to do with Stargate, Ne-yo isn’t too far behind. Stargate are in fact confirmed producers for the new album and this is like a taster as to what we should expect.

BRANDY HEADS INTO THE STUDIO WITH PHARRELL…

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Brandy is currently working on her 6th studio album, which will be the follow-up to her last album ‘Human’. The exciting news is that the singer just tweeted that she’s “at the studio with Pharrell”. It was previously confirmed that the two would be hitting up the studio after her mini tour of the U.K and now it’s happening right now

BRANDY HEADS INTO THE STUDIO WITH PHARRELL...

Looks like Pharrell is regaining his popularity because he is currently working on the new albums of Usher, Rihanna, Cassie and Shakira. This is big, because correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Brandy has worked with Pharrell before, so I’m really anticipated to hear what sound they come up with. Other confirmed producers include Stargate, Ne-yo and The Dream amongst others.

BRANDY PERFORMS CONCERT AT ‘SAN JOSE GAY PRIDE’ FESTIVAL…

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Brandy performed at the San Jose Gay Pride festival on Sunday, June 14th. She entertained crowds with a selection of hits and unreleased songs from her earlier back catalogue as well as songs from latest album ‘Human’. Check out her ‘Torn Down’ performance below:

BRANDY PERFORMS CONCERT AT SAN JOSE GAY PRIDE FESTIVAL...

Brandy certainly did wow crowds. They were singing along to all of her music. Plus, that performance had lots of swagger and vocally, she was getting down. Needing to add, she looked fantastic, but more rewarding is that she really enjoyed herself and you could tell. I like that she gives it her all when it comes to her performances. Torn Down is one of my favourite songs on Human so although it was never released as a single, seeing her perform it live and do it justice makes the whole experience all the more worthwhile. In fact, her whole concert was brilliant especially her ‘What About Us’ performance. She was going NUTS!!! And you should check out the gay fan reaction when she brought him up on stage for ‘Long Distance’. I watched every performance anticipated to see the the next one, and that is how it should be done. All the other performances have been posted after the jump. I made sure to put all of her ‘Human’ performances together first, and then her performances from the ‘Afrodisiac’ era, to ‘Full Moon’ era to ‘Never Say Never’ era and then her ‘Debut’ era, so it flows. Enjoy.

♫ GINUWINE FEAT BRANDY: ‘BRIDGE OF LOVE’ [NEW MUSIC]…

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

A new track from Ginuwine’s forthcoming album ‘A Man’s Thoughts’ has leaked. The song is titled ‘Bridge of Love’ and it features R&B songstress Brandy. Gin’s new album will be out on June 23rd via Notifi Records. Check out the track below:

♫ GINUWINE FEAT BRANDY: BRIDGE OF LOVE [NEW MUSIC]...

“You need to stand up. Take responsibility. Come on and walk with me across this bridge of love” …

This is a really nice R&B midtempo and it’s R&B straight up which is commendable. They both did their thing on the track. Plus, it’s not mixed with pop or electronica or dance to give it more of a mainstream edge. I think this is something oldskool G fans can actually appreciate. I’m loving the guitar chords and on top of that, Brandy’s layered vocals sound great.

Ginuwine says that he recorded 3 songs with Timbaland but only kept one song because he was “only able to afford one song from Tim”. That is kind of foul. They haven’t worked together since Aaliyah’s passing and I always considered them to be old friends despite them drifting apart. It’s not like Tim needed the money since he went commercial with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. But whatever. I’ll definetely check out the album when it drops.

♫ BRANDY FEAT NE-YO: ‘DECISIONS’ [NEW MUSIC]…

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Brandy and Ne-yo collaborate on a brand new buzz track titled Decisions. The newly leaked joint is produced by Stargate and is rumored to appear on Brandy’s forthcoming 6th studio album. The song was originally a bonus Ne-yo recorded last year for his latest album ‘Year of the Gentleman’. It surfaced online earlier this year and was accurately reported to be a demo for Brandy. Take a listen to the midtempo track below:

♫ BRANDY FEAT NE-YO: DECISIONS [NEW MUSIC]...

The song’s arrangement is sick with its brassy synths and electrically-charged guitar riffs. Her rich vocal chords also brings the song to light as well. It just makes me so excited for Brandy’s new album, and so far, we know she’s been in the studio with Stargate. It’s good to know Stargate can switch it up from time to time instead of using the same old overplayed ‘Irreplaceable’ template with the acoustic instruments and sparse handclaps. It doesn’t even sound like a Stargate joint which is probably why I appreciate it so much more. This is definetely promising for the current state of R&B right now especially since R&B music has been lacking lately. I hope Brandy brings it back with the new album and this so far is a positive direction.
