Leona Lewis has been living in LA for the past year recording the follow-up to her internationally successful debut. A new track from those latest recording sessions has leaked and it is titled ‘Strangers’. The song is produced by Ryan Tedder who also produced her monster worldwide hit ‘Bleeding Love’. Tedder has reportedly produced three songs for Leona’s new album and I guess this is one of them. Listen to the track below:

I don’t really know what to make of it but if I could describe it I would say it’s on some Kelly Clarkson meets Coldplay with its spaced out indie soft rock sound. Whilst it is no Bleeding Love, I can appreciate the live instruments used and that they didn’t try to recreate the Bleeding Love envelope which would have been tediously repetitive. That said, it’s not a bad song at all, and could even be an instant hit future single.
UPDATE: Another new Leona song has just leaked and it’s once again produced by Ryan Tedder. The song is called ‘I Got U’. Listen to a 1-minute clip here. So far I’m totally feeling this one.

It’s a nice album filler, and it sounds different for her, and I hope we don’t have a Bleeding Love Part 2. But I hope she comes harder for the first single. She’ll probs have a hit in the UK regardless, but she’ll probs struggle to get another hit in the US. Better In Time peaked at what, #11. And the other singles just flopped.

When I listened to the snippet, the first thing that came to mind was Coldplay… and now that you mention it Toya, I do hear Kelly Clarkson as well. But yea, this sounds like album filler… nice, but nothing special.

I agree. This song is so fucking awful. And annoying. Ugh…It sounds like some bouncy pop drivel you’d see on some movie made for children

she’s only been in LA since mid-January recording and has spent at least three spells in London in that time (March, early June and she’s here recording now).

Leona has recorded 20 tracks so far (possibly more by now) and she mentioned she was half way through recording her album. I hope “I Got U” makes the final cut. If “Strangers” ends up on the album then it should be a bonus track.

This will have to grow on me… a cross between Coldplay & OneRepublic. I do hear Kelly Clarkson inspired vocals. Glad she’s trying new things while sticking to AC where she shines.

The best part I really love about ‘Strangers’ is that she used live instruments which I find very infectious but other than that not really all that crazy about the song as a whole. As for ‘I Got U’, I’m really feeling it. The productin and everything about it is hot. It definitely has first single written all over it.
