Letoya Luckett’s ‘Lazy’, taken from her forthcoming album ‘Lady Love’ (to drop August 25th) has leaked in full. The leak comes after Amazon mistakenly posted all the snippets of the Japanese release and made it available to buy. So, we could be hearing lots more songs of hers in full, hopefully. Whilst I think the song is good, I don’t think the bassy midtempo number is anything amazing. Subject matter is starting to become abundant and it’s getting to a point where Ms Luckett is starting to rub off as simply being a one trick pony. The song also reminds me of Rihanna’s ‘Rehab’ in the chorus sections as well. I still look forward to hearing her new album though but everything is starting to sound a little too one-dimensional.

Goapele is making a comeback to the music scene with a brand new album later this year. This new project will be the follow up to her 2005 critically acclaimed album, ‘Change It All’. Here are some new video stills taken from her current new single ‘Milk & Honey’:

She looks amazing, and plus, the song is straight fire. Goapele is few of the artists I am looking forwards to this year. It’s so great to have her back on the scene again.

Eurovision singer Jade Ewen who came 5th in the competition has been preparing herself for a solo music career. Her new single ‘My Man’ premiered on Radio 1 a couple of weeks ago, and she shot the music video for it out there in LA:

Yesterday (July 30th), songstress Monica of the television show ‘Monica’ is seen speaking during the Cable portion of the 2009 Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour. The panel event took place at the Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, California:

Monica is looking like one hot mama and I’ll be tuning into BET this October just to catch it. I don’t even watch BET but for Mo, I’ll make the exception. The show is executive produced by Monica and James DuBose of DuBose Entertainment. It will also premiere on Oct 27th at 10pm (stateside). The show will be an eight-episode series that follows the singer as she works on her fifth studio album ‘Still Standing’, launches a new clothing line and tackles full-time motherhood.

Mario’s new album will no longer be called ‘And Then There Was Me’. His official site confirms that the R&B crooner has now renamed his album to the simply short and scientific ‘D.N.A’. So having said all that, his new album D.N.A will drop in stores on September 22nd…

Rapper Eminem shows the world just how hot and bothered he is by Mariah Carey’s latest diss single ‘Obsessed’. In a brand new diss track, the rapper addresses Mariah mocking him in her new video, their previous sex antics (bustin’ a nut on her stomach as he so bluntly puts it, but even the “premature ejaculation” is embarrassing for him) and also uses snippets of her 8-year-old voice recordings towards the end of the song. Even the singers husband Nick Cannon becomes a target. He stresses that this diss is just a warning (his way of ‘holding back’) and that he has enough dirt to slay her should she continue to get at him. Check it out below:

Some people will be quick to say that Mariah got roasted like a pig on a spit or recieved the ultimate “lyrical beatdown”? But all this does is emphasise that Eminem is a very sad and psychotic childlike man, someone who is indeed ‘Obsessed’ with the singer. MC played by Eminem? More like Eminem played himself here.

This just shows that since 2001, he cannot let go of a past relationship that she refuses to acknowledge. Let her address him fully just this once, and his heart burns. For someone to react so viciously, shows he got owned and now felt compelled to respond to keep his ‘dignity’ intact (or whatever of it he has left).

Now, it’s time to close the book and move on. Leaving him to wallow in his own misery and underlying issues is not a way of backing down. It’s about being classy with it and feeling secure enough to realise that what you have in life is soooo good, some of the pettiness thrown your way is just not worth responding to. Everyone and their mama knew the diss track was on its way as soon as ‘Obsessed’ impacted radio and now it’s a hit. Result. As a happily married grown woman, MC does not need to go back and forth with the high school antics. It may be his style but it’s certainly not hers.

The Sugababes premiere their new stateside video ‘Get Sexy’, the lead single from their forthcoming seventh studio album. The girls will release their new project via Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. Check out the video below:

The girls looked good and were certainly getting their sexy on. But the energy of the song was not emphasised much in the video. There could have been lots more dancing and rhythm which was not displayed until the near end. And if you’re prone to epileptic seizures, watching this may not be a good idea due to all the flashing lights and fast paced colours. As I was saying about the song, it is catchy although it sounds like a hybrid of everything from The Black Eyed Peas to Lady Gaga to that ever popular dance-pop sound plaguing the charts lately. Lyrics are fun but not to be taken seriously. It’s just one of those upbeat songs where you can just chill out to and let your hair down.

Rihanna had dinner at her favourite eatery Da Silvano in New York City on Wednesday night (July 29th). She looked really nice in a long black jumpsuit, leopard skin Louboutin pumps and casual make-up. Even the hair looked good:

Riri has also made the Forbes list as one of Hollywood’s young top earners. They report that last year, Rihanna made $15 million dollars. No wonder she can afford not to work any more, re-release and milk the hell out of the same album twice in two years and still strut her daily catwalk show at parties, restaurants and wherever else. Life is just, all sorts of good right now.

Maxwell’s new album Black Summer’s Night is doing wonderfully. The disc pushed another 71,500 units this week and so, he sits comfortably at No. 3.

Maxwell who released his new album after an 8 year hiatus has almost pushed Gold in its three weeks of release. His total sales (according to Nielsen Soundscan), currently stands at 493,500 units sold so far.

Not everyone is hitting the treasure chest chartwise. Not at least Jordin Sparks anyway. Her new album ‘Battlefield’ has sold a lackluster 47,700 copies putting her in the no 7 position.

I feel really bad for Jordin. I didn’t like her new album but she is a really talented singer and ‘Battlefield’ is such a good song. She might even get dropped from Jive after this especially if her sales fail to pick up. Maybe a really good ’stand out’ second single could help her recover from this.

All is not going well for Jive Records and their artists. Whilst Chris Brown is still struggling to build bridges, Ciara’s latest album ‘Fantasy Ride’ has completely fallen out of the Billboard 200 after 10 weeks. Even Keri Hilson is still in the charts, and she released her album first.

Justin Timberlake may have given her a top 10 hit but he could not save the project from tanking the way it did. I know Jive must be re-evaluating the money they spent (and wasted) on the project - four music video’s, one for a flopped buzz single that had top-of-the range budgeting and comic book album art. Their mistake was trying to turn her into the black Britney Spears and that formula just didn’t work.

Earlier today IDJ Chairman L.A. Reid hosted a mini listening party for Mariah’s new album “Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel” in New York. Known people who attended the event were The-Dream and his fiance Christina Milian. Also there was an affiliate for Essence magazine who tweeted throughout the event.

Officials from the Drug Enforcement Administration spent hours at Dr Conrad Murray’s house and his clinic in Las Vegas this week. This comes after several raids took place last week at his clinic in Houston, Texas. Apparently, they are looking for hardcore evidence so that Dr Murray can be slapped with a manslaughter charge for Michael Jackson’s untimely death. The police think Dr Murray gave the star a “powerful anaesthetic” (Propofol) to help him sleep shortly before he died on June 25th.

Dr Murray claims he’s being used as a “scapegoat” for Michael’s death but his actions have proven very questionable without a shadow of doubt. And this would explain why he is being heavily targeted. Dr Murray deserves to go to jail as well as to lose his doctor’s license if he is solely responsible for the death of the undisputed King of Pop. It’s highly likely he abused his position and took advantage of MJ’s fame, celebrity and wealth. You do not administer a powerful anaesthetic like Propofol outside of a professional medical institution because once used wrongly, it can be very fatal. This is the drug that is believed to have triggered Michael’s heart attack.

If this was a poor smackhead from the projects, he would not have fed their habit but because this was Michael Jackson, someone with that magnitude of fame, he did the unthinkable. Now about the CPR, as a qualified doctor he should know that to give CPR, you do it on a hard surface such as the floor and NOT on the bed. This emphasises further that Dr Murray KNEW Michael was already dead but still performed CPR on a soft surface. More disturbingly is that Dr Murray knew Michael was dead at the scene but STILL called the singer’s 12-year-old son Prince Michael to watch him perform a failed attempt at CPR on his father’s lifeless body so that he can claim a “witness”.

Reports also suggest that Dr Murray did not want Michael pronounced dead at the house but at the hospital instead. Once the pronouncement was made, he disappeared for three days. Critical security footage which would have showed EXACTLY how Michael died appropriately vanished, so obviously, somebody was covering their tracks. Dr Murray was the last person to see Michael Jackson alive and all the signs point to Dr Murray being guilty as sin and having something to hide. In the coming days and weeks, I hope his family get their closure and that includes the full authentic story as to what really happened during his last moments.

Rihanna looked absolutely fantastic yesterday (July 28th) when she was spotted making her departure from a business meeting in NYC. I saw the other pics yesterday where she was wearing some all blue get-up and a weird looking blue hat on her head, and let’s just say, it was NOT a good look. So it’s nice to see she’s back on her A-game once again:

On the same day, she changed off into a different outfit. She was seen having dinner with friends at NYC eatery Cipriani. Her off and now seemingly on-again boyfriend Chris Brown was also spotted on his cell near the restaurant in his black SUV. The singer is currently staying at the luxury Trump International Hotel and Tower in Manhattan where she was seen checking in with Chris last Friday (they reportedly booked separate rooms to make things look a little less obvious). If they are trying to override their restraining order, they’re certainly not doing a very good job of hiding it. SMH.

In other news, rumour has it that Rihanna will perform her new single on the UK’s X Factor in October during the live heats which is when the track is expected to premiere. I’m not sure how true this is so treat it as strictly rumour mill but I’ve been hearing that Rihanna is part of the X Factor line-up for the past couple of weeks now.
