Judging by some of the previews for the forthcoming Notorious B.I.G biopic, it looks like it’s going to be one helluva sloppy ass movie. Ex-3LW singer Naturi Naughton reveals to Black Tree Media about characterising rapper Lil’ Kim which she reveals was her most challenging job to date:
Still, it would be unfair to write her off, given that the movie has yet to be released. Therefore, we can’t really determine whether or not she was believable in her role. Last week however, Lil Kim showed a lot of distaste and was all up in the magazines huffing and puffing about her portrayal in the movie. She has bitched that the movie mainly concentrates on Faith Evans and Big’s mother’s side of the story.
Kim is also upset about Naturi portraying her. No surprises there since she’s spent most of her life trying to look like the women Biggie was often attracted to. She more than likely disapproved of Naturi playing the role because physically, she reminds Kim of how she use to look before she horrifically mutilated herself with all the never-ending plastic surgeries. And Kim was hit with a fat dose of reality check.
That broad is the epitome of self-hatred. I’m sure if Christina Milian (whom she allegedly wanted) or Beyonce were casted, she would not be bitching. SMH.

IF you had posted (or even read) the interview that Lil Kim gave about this movie (which I read over at Mileka’s blog) and her thoughts on Naturi you’d know why she was upset about her getting the role. In her opinion (straight from the horse’s mouth) Naturi gave the worst audition.
I agree with Lil Kim, if they wanted this story of his life to ring true, then she definitely should’ve been a part of it. That said, I couldn’t care less about Biggie or his music so I won’t be checking for this movie.

It was my opinion based around Kim’s very publicised self-esteem issues. It’s no secret she lightens herself up and got the nose jobs done as part of her insecurities. She never said she got it done to look like Faith and Biggie’s other chick Charli Baltimore, but she went out of her way to get similar attributes that THEY had (naturally). That is just what I think. I have no respect for anyone who lightens their skin, because they feel it’s more superior.

I’m inclined to agree with Mia. Kim’s disdain was a lot bigger than who played her. Toya you didn’t mention how she was not involved or made aware of any part of the process, despite being extremely close to Biggie. She was also upset at the fact that they chose Gravy to play B.I.G. when she felt that there was no connection between the two.
AND, most of here drastic surgery has taken place SINCE Biggie’s death, so I don’t think she’s trying to compete with Faith or Charli anymore.
I’d be mad too if someone was playing me in a movie yet they didn’t even approach me to do a bit of research.
As for the movie, my friends want to watch it and want me there, so I’ll go along and just fall asleep, lol.

Even if she was unimpressed with the audition, it doesn’t automatically mean she would do bad in her role. It seems Kim had already made her mind up about Naturi from day one. If she was really that horrible she would not have been cast. It’s funny that Lil Kim is the ONLY one that has bad things to say. She just seems bitter about the OVERALL MOVIE and not just how her character is portrayed. Maybe the movie didn’t portray enough of her love story with him (if ever there was one, lol). Kim was Biggies jump off before he met Faith, He didnt fuck Kim right away that came later they were more like homies at the beginning. As stated before Charlie Baltimore was fucking with Biggie when she was like 15/16. Big even paid for her father’s funeral (remember he was a drug dealer before the record contract).
Biggie met Faith and married her, Faith wrote most of my albm “my life” and usher’s debut album, she also toured as mine al b. sure and pebbles backup singer. When Biggie and Faith started having problems about Tupac, he started messing with Kim again in the publics eye just to piss Faith off because he was hurt.
Kim mistook this as Biggies everlasting love for her. Biggie`s pride and ego were hurt with all the hype about Tupac and Faith. I never believed Faith slept with Pac. He (PAC) was just talking smack. Biggie didnt have love for Kim in the way she wanted and I believe she knows this.
He loved Faith and had a lot of love for Charlie Baltimore. I think thats what made Kim lose herself and do all that surgery and shit. She has a complex about being light skinned and looking more like the women Biggie was actually attracted to.
Men will sex the down for my nigga ride or die hood rat chicks they hang out with but at the end of the day, they marry and love an entirely different woman from that chick.
The woman he marries might be just as ride or die and a scandelous chick in the bedroom as Lil Kim. But truth be told she is a real woman and knows how and when to play her part. (Take a lesson Kim)

People say that Biggie’s mom didnt like how Kim went on vh1 Driven show and said that Biggie beat her and made her abort numerous babies.

Ms Wallace didnt like Kim but its true, Biggie made her whole persona, he made her the hardcore hip hop chick that she is and Big made her get the abortion but he overlooked how much she loved him. And Biggie had a daughter prior to Chris Jr. but the thing is, according to reports, he met Kim first and told her he loved her two weeks prior to his death, but he treated her like the Jump Off , but thats what her Rap character was. Thats what BIG made and thats how Ms Wallace and Co. is going to show her as in this movie, eventhough others think otherwise too.

Naturi didn’t miss the Cheetah Girls bus, that is a bus to be missed cause once youre on you cannot get off (see ex members) This film does look over hyped and rubbish but Naturi has been in Hairspray (broadway) so this might be the starting of an acting career.

Lil Kim reps BIG all day, everyday, no matter what. Kim is a beautiful person on the inside, and thats all that should count at the end of the day, and what I love about Kim is how she doesn’t pretend to be something she doesn’t. I mean of course she gets the surgeries, but BANK ON IT that probably your favorite artist has too. No matter how severe its just how things work in the industry.
I am not a Toya hater, this is actually my favorite blog because I like how it has the news and her opinion because it kinda gives you another perspective on it, or you can see if she agrees with you or not. I also like how it is very much updated (keep it up! a lot of blogs such as Concrete Loop really lost it when they went all commercial and stopped posting a lot).
However with the whole Kim thing, I think you really had to read the whole thing. Kim was not upset about who was playing her. If you really read the whole thing, Kim wasn’t really bitter about Naturi, she was pissed that she had no say in it. But you are fooling yourself if you think that you would just sit back and be silent if someone was portraying you in a movie that you had no say in. Plus when Kim was looking for the script they denied it to her … which is also very wrong.
“going broke spending money on useless shit. ” .. Lil Kim gets money, she still got her money straight, so saying things like that .. where you state an opinion as a fact makes everything else you say look dumb. Point Blank.
One thing I found kinda funny is how Mary J. Blige was at the premier for the movie. I can never tell who Kim is really close to or not .. like honestly! I thought her and Missy were real cool but then Missy was working with other female rappers; Puffy and Kim don’t seem cool no more; Keyshia and Kim don’t .. etc..! The only person I know who Kim has always been close with and remains is Ray J but there on another type of level.

Girl please. It’s not about LOOKING like the people you idiot. An actor’s job is to CAPTURE the ESSENCE, the spirit, the personality of the person they’re portraying. Denzel Washington gave Malcolm X DOWN when he played him in the movie. Angela Bassett gave Tina Turner down when she played her. The list goes on. Your job as an actor is to do your best to be EXACTLY like the character or person you’re portraying.
Naturi is NOTHING like Kim, from her voice, to her walk, to her behavior. None of that.
This man is NOTHING like Tupac Shakur. If he capture Tupac’s personality and spirit then nobody would care whether he looked like him. But he is NOTHING like him. It’s a fail.

yall barely know the story of them, and it shows by some of yall answers [i dont know it all but clearly some of you dont].
i agree with mia. regardless of what yall may think, biggie may not have been “in love” with kim, he had a lot of love for her. kim was biggies ride or die, period….he got her out the hood along with junior mafia. biggie wasnt a saint either but everyone who knows of biggies history knows this and even if not, the movie is supposed to shed “a little” light on his life and its supposed to show how loved biggie was. he only wanted a way out of his issues and troubles and a way to support his daughter. a reason why rap cats are respected so much, sean, is because everyone doesnt come from the greatest family or living situation. some of these guys come from broken homes, no father, theyre not interested in school so they drop out [brought upon themselves], the mothers arent bothered with them so the have to resort to drastic measures to make money and they dont fall in love so they dont listen to r&b. the only ppl sometimes who know about this stuggle are the rappers who were in the same position. and the fact that they make it somewhere is fasinating, its like theyre representing them in a sense.
another thing, kims role wasnt to be biggies jump off [what went on behind closed doors is what it is], kim was a female equivalent to him. she was supposed to be a gangsta, slick talkin, brooklyn chich who was just as sexually charged as biggie. she was a sex kitten.
im pretty sure lil kims beef is on the performance and the fact that she wasnt really involved in the movie. kim would know about biggie just as much as faith evans, also regardless of how biggie “treated” kim she was still involved in his life so her role should be prevalent. his mother and widow were casting for someone they didnt really care for? that aint right. then everyone keeps saying that no one else spoke out about the performances, yall act like ppl are just gonna come out and say how bad the movie was. thats not gonna happen.
overall, time will tell and the performances will be judged. im definitely going to see this movie because i loved biggie and his music. he is one of the best rappers, if not the best. his flow, delivery, rhymes and metaphors were unmatchable. his albums were great rap albums. you have to respect someone who only released two albums while alive and have this much impact.
