Last night, Beyonce performed her ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ album version of ‘Ave Maria’. She performed it live at the Christmas Rockefeller Center Tree Party. Check out the stunning performance below:

Absolutely amazing. Those opera-notes were spot on. I love her rendition of this song. The vocal delivery on this track makes it alone one of the standouts in my opinion. I mean, let’s face it. You can make fun of her oats-porridge gluey lacefront, her limited IQ and questionable acting abilities, but one thing she has on lock is v-o-c-a-l-s. Is it safe to say Beyonce is one of the singers of this generation to set the standard vocally?

December 4th, 2008 at 8:14 am
beautiful song. nice performance
December 4th, 2008 at 8:21 am
im still mad alicia got snubbed by the grammys:evil: this performance is the ish tho love it!
December 4th, 2008 at 8:21 am
stunning performances dame at the last couple of notes!
December 4th, 2008 at 8:22 am
About when Beyoncé has a limited IQ??
December 4th, 2008 at 8:25 am
“Is it safe to say Beyonce is one of the singers of this generation to set the standard vocally?”
No
Not a fan of the song, but that was a good performance.
December 4th, 2008 at 8:28 am
and is it true alicia got snubbed because she performed and won at the AMAs? from foxnews.com
“Of course, there may be more to the snubs than meet the eye. In the cases of Alicia Keys and Mariah Carey, it could be a punishment for appearing on the American Music Awards last month, and accepting awards from them. There has long been an unwritten rule that if an artist did anything with the AMAs, owned by Dick Clark Productions and considered a minor rival, the Grammys wouldn’t allow you on their show.
damn toya, make a grammy noms post LMAO
December 4th, 2008 at 8:28 am
I’m not a fan of the song tbh, and I really don’t think those notes towards the end can be considered Opera.
December 4th, 2008 at 8:29 am
Great song & performance.
I’m sure her IQ isn’t as big as Nathan’s, but you can think Beyonce is dumb if you want. She IS inarticulate at times, but that shouldn’t be confused with lack of intelligence. Some people just can’t articulate words.
December 4th, 2008 at 8:45 am
Beautiful and flawless performance!
December 4th, 2008 at 8:48 am
Is it safe to say Beyonce is one of the singers of this generation to set the standard vocally?
She & Leona, & Christina at times but I’m still disappointed in that James Brown Tribute at the Grammys! Sorry, cant let that go
December 4th, 2008 at 8:50 am
But why is Beyonce’s looking like Solange’s weed plate?
December 4th, 2008 at 8:57 am
This is exactly why I agree with what Kanye said earlier this week. This was perfect.
Now moving on to Halo…
December 4th, 2008 at 9:00 am
In Other Beyonce News
I sadly say its official, Single Ladies is #1 on Billboard Hot 100! IIWAB looks like it will never get there and I really feel bad for Halo!
December 4th, 2008 at 9:09 am
LOL @ Young One. I told yall SL would be a hit. I didn’t think it would be bigger than IIWAB though.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:17 am
beautiful performance…FLAWLESS…and JUSTINE the ending was in fact operatic…
congrats on SL getting to number one…IIWAB deserves shine but hey #3 is still a hit…i’m sooooooo ready for HALO!!!
and yes beyonce is one of the better vocalists of this generation…P!NK to me still stands as the best female live vocalist out now though…bey, pink, xtina, leona, carrie underwood, janelle monae are on top IMO…
December 4th, 2008 at 9:19 am
Why do you feel bad for “halo” Young?
I am sorry but whats wrong with beyonce IQ?
Is it safe to say Beyonce is one of the singers of this generation to set the standard vocally?
Honestly, i believe that Beyonce has set a standard in the music industry. You name one female that can do what Beyonce does. Beyonce can Do an Alicia keyes, Keshia COle, Mary J Blidge, Mariah Carey, Patti Labell, DIana Ross, Modonna, TIna Turner, DOnna Summer, Leona Lewis, jennifer Hudson, Whintey, Anita Baker , toni braxton and etc type of songs….But can anyone of those artist do a Crazy In Love, Deja Vu, Freakum Dress, Greeenlight, and etc..Beyonce is the most universal artist in our generation. She can take you to a Broadway, oscar, grammy performance to MTV, BET, AMA and more….Give credit when credit is due…I am not saying she is the best at what she does…But she has the entire package…..You would never thing that artist can give you Crazy In Love and Ave Maria….and master both performance,…
COngrats too beyonce on earning her 5th #1 single….with “Single Ladies”
Up next is “Halo” & “Diva”
Alicia Keyes was robbed…..She should’ve replaced Neyo for Album of the Year, ..and I am pissed the hell off that “Like You Never See me Again” wasnt nominated and “Superwoman”…what have the Grammy’s come too when talent is left behind studio acts…..
December 4th, 2008 at 9:20 am
@ Z
I know thats that….Kanye talks shit, but sometimes he talk some real shit……
December 4th, 2008 at 9:23 am
Z,
i agree with Kanye too…Tina is an ICON and LEGEND yes, in terms of artistry, performining, and longevity…but beyonce on stage is legendary…she might not be the best live vocalist or the best dancer but she combines her talents and puts on a show like no other right now…i think her artistry is lacking though and she has yet to prove longevity and that’s what stopping her from iconic status…
DONT ATTACK ME FOR MY OWN DAMN OPINIONS YOU DAMN STANISH MOFO’S…
thank’s in advance…
TEAM TALENTLESS!!!
December 4th, 2008 at 9:26 am
@Hallie Fan
I dont think Halo will do well because its too good of a song right now

December 4th, 2008 at 9:27 am
she is one of the best vocalist and best dancers/performers on this generation…mainly on the performer level because in the 21st century, nobody has outdone Bee in terms of performances. No-DAMN-Body!!!!!
December 4th, 2008 at 9:29 am
By the looks of things, Diva might be her sixth #1 and that would be ICONIC now wouldnt it?
December 4th, 2008 at 9:32 am
SINGLE LADES #1…………..LOL BRITNEY SPEARS PROJECTED TO SALE 450,000…..CHECK BILLBOARD
December 4th, 2008 at 9:32 am
Yeah I understand what you are talking about Young. People sometimes fails to appreicate good music…But I do believe Halo have the full potiential to be a serious contender for the number one spot or even the top five on Billboard. But the way Diva is charting on Billboard and itunes…the minute its release as an officila single…It may go striaght to number one Billboard…..Beyonce cn poossible garnish about four number ones off this album which would be amazing……
December 4th, 2008 at 9:36 am
I am also scared for Halo. I think she has been having too many ghetto-esque ass hits for people with real taste to actually appreciate good songs. But #3 is not bad. It’s in fact great. SL did grow on me, but it was nowhere near IIWAB.
And I agree Goshie. But remember that she has only had 3 albums. For someone to accomplish that much with 3 albums is legendary in it’s own right.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:37 am
If Britney is projected to sell 450k then maybe she will sell something around 350k…which is still great….good for her..i hope this is a start for a brighter future for her…..Beyonce is projected so sell another 200k…..
I am hearing that Halo and Diva will not be dropping as singles until January…is that true….if so i think that might be a mistake….She needs to dropped those singles within two weeks…Single ladies and IIWAB have reached their the status of accomplishments……Single ladies is number 1 and IIWAB is platinum…….If she drops Halo and Diva she can have four songs in the TOP TEN…..now that would be amazing…she can have the 1234 slots….lol…i know thats wishful thinking….lol…..
December 4th, 2008 at 9:37 am
I can’t get into her singing this song, knowing she takes writing credits on it. This is a CLASSIC!
But I won’t beat that dead horse anymore.
HALO better do better than all the rest of the songs on her random-album. HALO SHITS ALL OVER “I Am…Sasha Confused”.
I absolutely adore/love this song, so damn much!
Why is it when Kanye says things like what he’s said lately, it’s “Real shit”???
If a stan/fan burst out on Youtube with a video claiming Beyonce to be greater than Tina Turner, you’d guys laugh it off and call him/her crazy. But you believe Kanye? Kanye’s opinion is now fact?
People are so easily influenced (DUPED) when it comes to things surrounding their favorite ’starruhs’.
*insert eyeroll and snark here*
December 4th, 2008 at 9:39 am
Poor IIWAB. It’ll probably never get to number 1. Maybe #2 next week though.
I think Single Ladies hit number 1 because of the dance. Everybody on youtube is trying to do that dance. *shudders at the fat guy in the leotard* Plus she was smart for delaying the digital downloads. She let the hype from the dance build up, so by the time that it was released digitally, it was a smash.
When does she perform on X-Factor?
December 4th, 2008 at 9:39 am
I am sorry a song doesnt have to reach number on to be consider successful…Plus it went to number one in other countries…….IIWAB is platinum and have reached number 3 on Hot 100……that is a very successful …..
December 4th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Ma’am Z, it has nothing to do with Kanye. He is an ego-centered asshole. Most of the things he says is bullshit, but in my opinion he was right, regarding this topic. In no way is what he says a fact. No one who urinates in others dressing rooms gets that power…
December 4th, 2008 at 9:42 am
MADZ!!!

why isn’t anybody visiting the chatrooms anymore?
TEAM TALENTLESS!!!
December 4th, 2008 at 9:42 am
I am also scared for Halo. I think she has been having too many ghetto-esque ass hits for people with real taste to actually appreciate good songs. But #3 is not bad. It’s in fact great. SL did grow on me, but it was nowhere near IIWAB.
@ Z,
You are so right! But the ghetto-ass-ness hits are the main ones that keep her up on the charts. *shaking my head* at what that says about the listeners and what they like to hear. HALO, again, shits all over Beyonce’s current album AND B’Day. I’ve got good taste and its evidenced by my love of HALO and I only hope that song soars to the top of the charts so Beyonce can feel validated with her “I AM…Sasha’s Saga” record.
And I agree Goshie. But remember that she has only had 3 albums. For someone to accomplish that much with 3 albums is legendary in it’s own right.
I agree with you here too, but from 3 albums worth of material, I see a lot of ‘numbers’ and ‘figures’ in terms of sales, charts, etc. I think the numbers outweigh the quality or the realness of the pieces, save for Dangerously in Love. She’s had a lot of great numbers over the years, now I need for her to write a MASTERPIECE sans so much ghettoness
December 4th, 2008 at 9:43 am
gOSHie,
I was on the chat for a minute yesterday. LOL. Work got in the way
December 4th, 2008 at 9:43 am
I dont need Kanye West for confirmation….But since he said I agree with him….
I agreed with Kanye West when he said Bush doesnt like Black people……I agreed when he said Brintey spears wasnt ready to open up for the MTV awards…I agreed with Kanye when he said RIhana made Beyonce step her game up…and I agree with Kanye when he said Beyonce is better than TIna Turner and she is a living legend….I am sorrry but I guess Tina Turner was wrong when she stated the exact same thing…….I understand Kanye run his mouth like a duck soemtimes, but when I feel like he is talking real shit….i will state it……..
December 4th, 2008 at 9:45 am
I am sorry a song doesnt have to reach number on to be consider successful…
This sounds like an excuse.
If numbers (or reaching number one) don’t matter, then why so much talk from fans on sites about OOOOOhhh Beyonce is NUMBER ONE on the charts!!!
Unfortunately, numbers DO matter in terms of success, not only for the record companies and whatnot, but TO FANS
and that’s the sad part. But when the numbers don’t match up, reasons like the above are presented to say, “well, it’s okay, it doesn’t make it not successful, IIWAB is number 1 on Pluto, so it’s all good.”
December 4th, 2008 at 9:46 am
When did Tina Turner “state the exact same thing”???
And what thing are you talking about? That Beyonce is better than her?
December 4th, 2008 at 9:47 am
why iz ppl stealerizing my dot dot dot?
oh… i see MadZ…work is creeping up on me too…
December 4th, 2008 at 9:47 am
No one who urinates in others dressing rooms gets that power…
Alright, Z.
I gotcha
Just trying to make conversation. I’m bored.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:48 am
@ gOSHiE,
Wait.
You mean to tell me, you’re laying claim to the ‘dot dot dot’?
WTF?
I thought punctuation belonged to EVERYBODY!!!
December 4th, 2008 at 9:48 am
*high fives Ma’am*
I agree. She does need to make a decision and decide whether she’ll keep doing ghetto-ish or turn to real music. She obviously doesn’t need the money or numbers, but if she wants that iconic dream to hit then she has to choose the latter.
And music is hanging on life support since the day Rihanna and Britney were considered R&B artists.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:49 am
@Madame Zenobia
I strongly agree, I think that along with Alicia & X-Tina, Beyonce is the future of the industry as far as females go BUT, We are not getting the quality that we know she’s capeable. IDK whether its the times and how the industry is today or whatever butI’m waiting for that M<asterpiece myself because DIL was a very good album but IMO I think she can top it if she really wanted to!
December 4th, 2008 at 9:49 am
If you have good taste then you would appreciate songs like
Disappear, Hello, Scared Of Lonely, Ave Maria, Satellite, Thats why your Beautiful, Broken Hearted girl,
Those are excellent and passionate songs….It shows range, control and soul….her lyrics are the strongest on this album and she expresses her personal love about Jay on this album..Pleasae stop with all the bullshit of Ghetto songs, like Our legends didnt prooduce ghetto songs…Like Patti wasnt talkinga bout being a whore….Diana Ross wasnt talking about being a Boss aka DIVA…Madonna sung about being a damn VIRGIN aka Kitty Kat….please people know your history about music before stating your opinion…Music is music and poetry is poetry….it can be funny, sad, pain, ghetto, classy shit sometimes it doesnt even to rythem…music can be expressed in different forms…If you dont like it then move on to another…..
December 4th, 2008 at 9:50 am
…
December 4th, 2008 at 9:51 am
Tina Turner said the same thing after the grammy performance
December 4th, 2008 at 9:51 am
She has one of the most unique vocal stylings..She can speed up her vibrato & then slow it down! She can go full on otique, then take it down to Bar!
This woman is incredible as a vocalist!
Btw, Toya you don’t know if Beyonce lacks Iq or not. She can just be a bad interviewer, but I know plenty of people like that, but will ace a test. Never underestimate
December 4th, 2008 at 9:52 am
yes MadZ…i iz staking claim to dot dot dot on this blog…
i made it hot…ppl iz need ta recognize!!!
December 4th, 2008 at 9:53 am
No one is to say what Good taste is.
I love Halo & then I love Diva.
I love I want to dance with somebody & then I love Heartbreak Hotel!
It’s all a matter of opinions. Beyonce is a incredible vocalist! Point blank!
December 4th, 2008 at 9:54 am
Z
i have two words…IMBPOTB potion…you better stop!!!
December 4th, 2008 at 9:55 am
I dont care what any of you say but she was lip syncing, beyonce’s versions of her songs live always deviate from her recorded songs, and this performance did not. I work as a engineer in a recording studio, and watching that performace it was very clear that those were pre-recorded vocals.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:56 am
@ Young,
I KNOW she can top Dangerously in Love and trust, that album will be the first I purchase….LEGALLY
@ Z,
The classifications assigned to ‘artists’ in the industry is more commercial than its ever been. Hell, MUSIC is more commercial than its ever been. When did Brit become classified as R&B? WTF?!!!
Personally, I’d love for Beyonce to do a duets album. That’s just me wanting to work with other favorite artists of mine. I have a list made out if you’d like to see.
@ Hallie,
Okay, you’re trying to sell me on the “I AM” side of her latest record. Yes, those songs I ‘do’ like with the exception of 4 of them. Beyonce singing ‘Crazy in Love’ shows range and control; don’t need to be sold on that either
What’s bullshitty-ish with saying ‘ghetto-songs’???
I have to know all music history before I can state my opinion???
Let’s just agree to disagree in regard to the ‘ghetto songs’. Or do you take offense that I call them that? If so, glance above to my earlier posts…I was repeating how Z referred to the songs.
Trust, I have my own word for her upbeat ‘anthems’.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:58 am
@ Hallie,
WHAT same thing did Tina say? Can you be specific so I can understand?
@ Dee,
I believe she just isn’t articulate all the time in interviews; though she’s gotten WAY better. I stumble and fall over my words sometimes when I’m not focused. As for her IQ, I won’t even go there; who knows what it is…who cares, really? She has a gift with arranging melodies and harmonies; that takes intelligence.
December 4th, 2008 at 9:59 am
@Hallie Fan
Those are great Quality songs BUT some of them are not singles material. So, for singles to be great, they have Decent/Quality lyrics as well as ear catching melody/rhythm. Like I said, we know Bey is capable of doing CIL, Irreplaceable, I question her consistency, thats all!
December 4th, 2008 at 10:00 am
Why is a certain standards set for Beyonce and not for every artist…..People place her on a level that they wouldnt set for other artist….
December 4th, 2008 at 10:01 am
All I want to know is when is she performing on X-Factor!
December 4th, 2008 at 10:02 am
Why is a certain standards set for Beyonce and not for every artist…..People place her on a level that they wouldnt set for other artist….
You are CORRECT! *ding ding ding*
Not only do ‘people’ place her on another level, but so do her fans, her STANS, and dare I say *looks around* her haters.
But look at it this way, when you’ve achieved so much and done so much as Beyonce has, YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY be viewed on another level, ALWAYS.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:03 am
What I’d like to know because I’m too lazy to register for BeyonceFans.net or whatever, is when is she making the video for “Halo”?
Anyone know? Anyone? Anyone?
December 4th, 2008 at 10:03 am
@madame IWAB IS PLAT……………I MEAN DOES THAT MAKE IT SUCESSFUL, BECAUSE SINGLE LADIES IS NOT PLAT, BUT ITS #1……………….IWAB HIGHEST WAS @ #2 DOES SOUND LIKE A FAILURE TO ME
December 4th, 2008 at 10:04 am
@ Hallie
She is setting those goals herself. And people comparing her to legends is nothing but positive.
@ Ma’am Z
Isn’t she on this site’s banner? And yes, it is sad.
Show me that list. I have my own, you see.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:05 am
@ Ma’am
It has already been shot. Someone said something about a January release, which would be this era’s Ring The Alarm. She has to release those singles next week!
December 4th, 2008 at 10:07 am
@Hallie Fan
I say the same thing about X-Tina & Alicia, although for Alicia, it really doesnt matter cuz she’s gonna do her anyway, back to back high charted hits or not! X-Tina, IDK what her issue, she’s a different story!
Beyonce, The best performer we have, but the material……NOT That good some of the time! Thats why!
December 4th, 2008 at 10:07 am
@ dani bee,
Huh?
@ Z,
Good point. LOL.
My list is crazy weird, you may not even know some of the artists.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:08 am
I wouldn’t put Xtina in that list. She is too lost.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:08 am
@madame
The reporter asked her what she think aboout beyonce
She said, “Beyonce is better than her because she can sing really really well and she is real pretty. She will never be a ROCk star because she carry herself like a lady and classy”
@ Young
I understand you completely…Beyonce is better known for her uptempos and I honestly think it will always be like that…The rythem in which she sings them in is outstanding…her Ballads will be remembered but not as her uptempos
December 4th, 2008 at 10:08 am
Never mind. I’ll find out myself.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:11 am
I understand your logic Madame about the level reference
From what I know the video for “halo” has already been shot along with “Diva”
December 4th, 2008 at 10:11 am
Her stats and numbers for her first 3 albums are not all that impressive, especially when compared to what Whitney, Mariah and Shania Twain did with their first 3 albums.
As usual, this girl is hyped to the 10th degree.
And I’m LMFAO because for all of her performing skills, Rihanna got a Grammy nomination for her live DVD and Beyonce didn’t. Oh the irony!
December 4th, 2008 at 10:11 am
Madame Zenobia Says:
I can’t get into her singing this song, knowing she takes writing credits on it. This is a CLASSIC!
But I won’t beat that dead horse anymore.
——
She did write it lol. If you think this version is ANYTHING lyrically like the classic Ave Maria written by Eriksen and Hermansen you are highly mistaken. She rewrote the lyrics and changed the vocal stylings of this song into a love song which is why she walked down the aisle to this song. The ONLY words that are the same in the two version is the title–Ave Maria.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:12 am
What’s wrong with the ghetto shit? I like both singles.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:12 am
@ Z,
Thanks! YES YES YES!
That song works miracles.
Case & point: one of my best friends, a guy, geigh, doesn’t like Beyonce. I used to tease him all the time by singing Crazy in Love to him. But when Irreplaceable hit, he lost it and loved the song. When I let him hear HALO, I think he might’ve joined her fanclub.
He has the song on his myspace, Ipod, IPhone, everything. And ‘I’ converted him LOL
Anyhoo, here’s two artists I’d love either for her to work with or for them to write her a song:
-Van Hunt (yes, I said it damnit…he’s an awesome writer; no club-bangers, but good, good music; what I consider to be good music anyway)
-Terence Trent D’Arby (again, yes, I said it damnit…again, he was awesome in his heyday; again, no club-bangers, but rock/soul music with awesome lyrics and great sound)
***Yes, I am old school…and just old
But when I listen to their music (old and new) I think here and there, damn, this’d be a good song for Beyonce! Especially if she wants to go that Tina Turner route and into a more rock sound. *shrugs*
December 4th, 2008 at 10:12 am
I MEANT TO SAY IT DOESN’T SOUND LIKE A FAILURE…………..
December 4th, 2008 at 10:12 am
Still! I’m curious!
These are my top 5 collabos for Bey:
1. Prince! ! ! I can’t stress this enough! They have an amazing stage presence and an even better one together. And I would love if he robbed off on her musically too.
2. Alicia. The two biggest artists out right now.
3. Rihanna. One of the two’s career would end after this duet. I am rooting for one of them. No names.
4. Kleerup. He’s a Swedish producer that has some of the most original beats and meoldies out there. Last year he released an album with all duets. Great songs!
5. Shakira, and I want this one to count.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:13 am
Young yoou are crazy if those songs are not Single Material…..
December 4th, 2008 at 10:13 am
Whitney, Mariah and Shania Twain all had their hay day. You can’t compare sales of yesteryear to now without accounting for inflation.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:13 am
@ jb,
Thanks for that. I didn’t know. But the melody is the same and the title as you point out, hence my befuddlement regarding it.
Oh and that comment (as are most of mine) are half-serious and half-snark/sarcasm.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:14 am
@ Julien
GGGB was nominated for Best Long Form Video. It’s an award given to the technical aspects of a DVD which is Rihanna’s forte since it takes away from the lack of a stage show. The award is given to the director, executive producers, and cameramen-not to the artist. Bey’s DVD didn’t rely on the smoke and mirrors of 23 high-definition videocameras; therefore, it wasn’t nominated.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:15 am
@JULIEN…BEYONCE PERFORMANCE DVD HAS BEEN IN THE TOP 2 ALMOST ALL YEAR……..SHE GOT A GRAMMY NOM FOR BEST RB VOCAL( FOR ME MYSELF AND I OFF HER LIVE DVD)
December 4th, 2008 at 10:16 am
NGB I heard it was at the final show? Doesn’t tell me much though. No UK people on right now
December 4th, 2008 at 10:16 am
So what if Rihana Live DVD was nominated and beyonce wasnt…Rihana will never be called a performer…..lol…come on now….
December 4th, 2008 at 10:16 am
@ dani bee,
Okay, I got you
Though I don’t think “I” called it a failure? I was just referring to what others had stated
@ Ja,
Your icon….*sigh*….it’s killing me softly
@ Julien,
I find it interesting that she didn’t receive a Grammy nod for her “Experience” DVD. They should’ve nominated her for that due to the mere fact that “I” rented it and watched it all the way through.
But I know the reason….no DVD commentary
no behind the scenes with Beyonce. Had they added all the ‘extras’, then maybe……..
@ Hallie,
Thanks for the Tina quote. It sounds familiar LOL She said this like last year or something didn’t she???
December 4th, 2008 at 10:18 am
December 4th, 2008 at 10:18 am
WHen people talk about Diana Ross sales and achievements the Supremes success are included…so why isnt Destiny Childs success included….
December 4th, 2008 at 10:19 am
@ jb,
Thanks for the explanation on Bey’s ‘not’-nominated DVD.
But she had some pyrotechnics didn’t she? And what of the zoom on the camera when she sang Flaws and All and the bird, that dove that flew out of her hair? Is that not worthy of awesome production?
Again, I’m kidding, so don’t flame me. Seriously though, as I stated above, that was the only concert dvd I watched over this past year….that should be enough to get it to the nominations LOL
December 4th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Well she said it this year in February 2008 right after they performed together……
December 4th, 2008 at 10:20 am
If she was as big as some of ya’ll claim, she’d be outselling her peers. Yet, over the years, Alicia, Fergie, Carrie Underwood and others have been shitting on her sales.
Save for about 3 good songs, her new album is shit. And one song alone doesn’t make it great.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:20 am
@ Hallie,
Of the 100 million records sold tag-line in reference to Beyonce’s success, I always thought the DC sales of LPs and singles ‘were’ included???
December 4th, 2008 at 10:21 am
LOL! Come on now. I doubt the fact there were no extras on that dvd was the reason she didn’t get a nod. Especially if they watched the actual thing.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Thanks Z…
December 4th, 2008 at 10:23 am
So Julien. Since you can’t let that go, do you personally think that Rihanna is better than Beyonce live? Please answer so I know that I’m not wasting my time.

That 100 milllion sold is extremely exaggerated, even if you include DC3’s numbers.
This is the same camp that advertised their #1’s CD as having 13 #1’s when only 4 of the songs hit #1.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:23 am
@ Madame,
And don’t forget the wind machines. They definitely add production value to that DVD
But honestly, that DVD is the straight business. I still watch it to this day and it’s certified 3x platinum on Billboard.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:23 am
@ Julien,
I was obviously kidding
But on a serious note, I WANTED THOSE DVD EXTRAS dammit!
She had some on the “Live at Wembly” DVD. *sigh* Maybe next tour she’ll up the anty on behind-the-scenes
I want to see Ms. Tina ‘design’ and Angie ‘apply’.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:23 am
December 4th, 2008 at 10:24 am
Thierry Mugler is supposed to have creative control over her next tour. Should be pretty interesting.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:25 am
@ JULIEN………..ONCE AGAIN, BEY GOT NOMINATED FOR HER VOCALS ON HER DVD, NOT FOR THE FIREWORKS IN THE BACKGROUND………………..
December 4th, 2008 at 10:26 am
@ Ja,
I enjoyed it while I had it, but I sold it on Amazon.com to a more die-hard fan than myself. B’Day was a hard pill of a record to swallow for me. Only enjoyed a few songs, but because I’d heard so much about the concert I bought it.
@ Everyone,
Speaking of concert DVDs, I know Justin Timberlake is a douche, and I did rent his “Justified” Tour DVD, but should I watch his FutureSex/LoveSounds DVD?
I mean, I’m an old school soul and I love the brothers, but something about this douche-of-a-whitey makes me a little…*sigh* Should I rent it? yes or no folks LOL
December 4th, 2008 at 10:27 am
Bey is as big as everyone says - check every Forbes list. If other artist are having more success in selling records, clearly she must be doing something right to be raking in as much dough as she is.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:27 am
@ Ja,
Thierry Mugler? Word? *goes to look up his designs* Thanks
December 4th, 2008 at 10:28 am
LOL I don’t think Kitty Kat & virgin are equivalent!
December 4th, 2008 at 10:28 am
Wow, that was amazing. Beyonce always makes me feel these songs when I see her do them live. Which is why I can’t wait to see her perform Halo.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:28 am
She diversified herself and her talent, THAT’S what she’s doing right to make all those bucks.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:29 am
@Madame Zenobia
It was a good show if you didnt see it on HBO! I copped JT’s DVD and I liked it, pretty good show!
December 4th, 2008 at 10:29 am
Hiya Mia!!!
I can’t wait to hear Halo live, too. Would love to hear it ALL the way Live…as in 1st row, center pit live.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:29 am
LOL Thierry Mugler was HUGE in the eighties. He’s probably responsible for those big shoulder pads and other outrageous fads. He’s actually retired I think, so him doing this is a big deal in the fashion world.

December 4th, 2008 at 10:33 am
Hey Mio! And I agree. Maybe she’s doing it on purpose? I mean not making the songs justice on record as much as on stage? All her songs are better live than on the album.

I had my squeal-worthy moment for Jazmine on yesterday. I’m happy for her.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:34 am
They showed this performance on GMTV this morning, and I only watched the end, but it sounded like to me that she was lip synching. I’ll watch the video when I can be bothered to see.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:35 am
We still talking about record sales???
We’re on to Thierry Mugler. Come join us, Dee! Take a look at this:

LOL @ MadZ. Yep. He retired from doing fashion/couture though. I think he’s just doing fragrances now. But, he’s coming back I guess. Also, the motorbike corset Beyonce wore in a pic is one of his designs.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:36 am
Hi Madame, Ja and Z!
@ Nathan ~ I wondered the same thing actually. It sounds so much like the studio version. But if anyone could pull it off live, she could so….

December 4th, 2008 at 10:38 am
Hey Mia.
At the end of the song, her voice is too soft. That’s my only gripe. I don’t think she would lip the beginning and not the end as well. Plus, she messed up a lyric.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:38 am
@ carl,
What…..
You haven’t listened to the record, yet you want her to win? NOW THAT”S FAN DEDICATION!
Seriously, it’s a great LP. She’s amazing. Let me know what you think once you hear it

There are a couple posters in this thread that are an army of TWO in the Stan Nation.
But it’s all good; makes for good conversation…

December 4th, 2008 at 10:40 am
December 4th, 2008 at 10:41 am
I’m gonna have to watch it again. I’m sure Beyonce wouldn’t have to lip it standing still since she doesn’t lip it when she thrashing around like she’s being electrocuted.
December 4th, 2008 at 10:44 am
I was thinking the same the thing, I can’t see her lip synching to this, it’s not like she couldn’t.

Julien
Number One Carre is not her peer Country is #1 seller of MUSIC - Thats a fact, so its expected for country artist to outsell R&B which is the 2nd to last most purchased music
Last time I checked Alicia was still trailing 100,000 copies or so b’hind b’day IDK y u ppl think just b/c sum has higher debut means there album sold better than any other its all about the long run of albums
Hell Lil’ Wayne sold 1,000,000 copies FIRST week
and his albums only double plat
so kill the noice Mariah’s an icon and her recent album sales are ASSSSSSSSSS!!!! so whats ur point
December 4th, 2008 at 10:47 am
What does it matter if she lipped? She is still amazing! Ask Britney fans…
December 4th, 2008 at 10:48 am
it was a decent performance, but iam not really convinced that beyonce has that powerful vocal’s like whitney or mariah, for me xtina and leona are the best vocalist young crops of talents now( and also charice(oprah and david foster new discovery).
December 4th, 2008 at 10:53 am
What does it matter if she lipped? - Z
I think it matters, because I see her as a vocalist. Where as Britney, I don’t. Hey hoe, maybe she didn’t lip synch. I’ll watch it later.

You are so unobjective when it comes to Beyonce. Of course she doesn’t have the record sales of any of the women you listed. Those ladies sold when albums weren’t available for downloading on the net.
And are the Grammy’s really all that anymore? The fact that Rihanna is nominated while other true artists were ignore is proof enough.
You need to learn to give dues when they’re due.

Can this Girl(BRITNEY) do ANYTHING LIVE?!
December 4th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
FANTASTIC VOCAL PERFORMANCE!!!Once again putting most of her peers to shame. LOL @ the haters attempting to throw the lip syncing claim, don’t even dare, that was LIVE all the way(especially when she messed up the words in some parts). She is just that Good. 1 of the best versatile powerhouse vocalist of this generation. Congrats to her notching her fifth #1 song with ’single ladies’ and her grammy nomination for vocal performance(me,myself and i)
Oh yes, what would a beyonce complimentary post be like with some cheap shots by toya, lol. Trust…. beyonce is very smart and handles her business very well(oprah and tina turner confirmed this). Plus b4 you throwing any foolishness about her having an great team, um britney spears had an exceptionally marketing team and that still didn’t stop her from making those foolish mistakes.

Boi stop your foolishness. That WAS LIVE all the way. i know it killing some of y’all that she’s an excellent vocalist. Anybody who’s been to a beyonce concert, knows she’s a vocal beast live! December 4th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
JB posted this earlier:
“She did write it lol. If you think this version is ANYTHING lyrically like the classic Ave Maria written by Eriksen and Hermansen you are highly mistaken. She rewrote the lyrics and changed the vocal stylings of this song into a love song which is why she walked down the aisle to this song. The ONLY words that are the same in the two version is the title–Ave Maria.”
So, I’m not sure if that meant she walked down the aisle to her version or the original one. There’s nothing wrong with it if she did. It just seems as if she might as well just held a microphone and sung to him while she walked
.
December 4th, 2008 at 1:15 pm

December 4th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
HEr goes the stans again, rewriting history. This IS the same Ave Maria with Beyonce changing the words, but the music, harmony (ave m a ria) is the classic. She crossed out their lyrics and sung her own but in the same arrangement as the original, not very original but by the time beyonce is done swagger jacking she will be given credit for
silent night
at last
ave maria
the star spangled banner etc…
her stans will swear she created these songs, not merely sung them and changed a few lyrics
December 4th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
@ sam………………not original…..LOL cause she didnt re write the arrangement……..how dumb is that..
i guess aretha franklin, josh groban, yolanda adams, gladys knight and everyone else who sung the song is un original cause they didnt even change the words………

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum you guysneed to watch that video again. Beyonce is one of the most talented singers and performers around BUT SHES ALSO ONE OF THE GREATEST LIPSYNCHERS AROUND AS WELL!!!
I think shes lipping it up here. Go back and watch her BET performance of De Ja Vu and also her performance of Get me Bodied….BUT LIPSANG TO THE FULLEST.
Go back and watch all of the Destinys Child performances of Lose my breath…lipsang to the fullest…every last one of them
But where as its easy to see mariah lipping…Beyonce does it EXTREMELY WELL. But I didint buy this performance at all. I think she lipped it. ITS ABSOLUTELY TOO FLUENT AT TIMES. Not even Whitney Houston is this flawless live.
December 4th, 2008 at 3:55 pm

She has a nice voice though, just nothing great, hell, I still say Kelly sounds better (when she lets loose).
